EBRD Annual Meeting Civil Society Programme - Invitation for Self-Selection, Georgia

21/12/2011 03:25 (155 Day 05:57 minutes ago)

The FINANCIAL -- The 2012 Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and the associated Business Forum ‘Managing In Turbulent Times’ will take place in London on 18 and 19 May 2012.

As in previous years, in parallel with the Business Forum we will hold the annual Civil Society Programme on Friday 18 and Saturday 19 May. Consultation meetings are designed to provide civil society stakeholders with the opportunity to interact with EBRD staff, senior management, the President and Board Directors, and discuss issues of interest and concern regarding the Bank's policies and major investment projects.

The Annual Meeting 2012 will be held at the EBRD Headquarters building in London and thus will be organised on a reduced scale. Space constraints will necessitate only half of the usual number of participants in all categories – official delegates, business guests, civil society representatives, journalists and staff members.

As a consequence, civil society participation must be limited this year to a maximum of 60 representatives: one person per organisation. In order to ensure fair and representative participation by civil society, the EBRD is asking organisations from the countries of operations to undertake a self-selection process until 31 January 2012 in order to choose their own representatives to participate in the Civil Society Programme. The number of participants per country will depend on the level of EBRD’s investment.
