The FINANCIAL -- MapQuest, a wholly owned subsidiary of AOL launchedthe production release of the Android Maps API and the beta release of the Apple iOS Maps API.
Both APIs have been designed as "drop in" replacements for the current native mapping APIs. To easily switch over, simply integrate the MapQuest API instead of the native API. According to AOL, MapQuest mobile developers used the same object model as the native API and added new functionality such as integrated driving directions plus the ability to use free OpenStreetMap data or MapQuest licensed datasets.
