The FINANCIAL -- Parliament will scrutinise the legislative proposals presented by the
Commission today on cohesion policy for 2014-2020 in depth and
constructively, so as to arrive, without delay, at a result that allows
regions hit by the crisis to restore growth.
"We enter this debate well prepared and with confidence" said Regional Development Committee chair Danuta Hübner (EPP, PL) on Thursday morning.
"These proposals will enable us to improve the effectiveness of Community support to regions and get faster, performance-related results", said Danuta Hübner (EPP, PL) on Thursday morning. "After negotiations with the Council and the Commission, we hope to be able to send a clear and strong signal to public and private players in Europe's towns and regions that the EU will invest in growth and jobs", she added.
Building competitiveness
The proposed regulations will enable us to marry flexibly the specific needs of each region with thematic objectives, said Ms Hübner, adding that "we also advocate further simplifying procedures, since countries in difficulty have less civil service manpower".
